Side Hustle Bootcamp is proudly supported by the City of Newcastle NewSkills Program. This program is open for Newcastle residents aged from 14+.

City of Newcastle is funding training courses under our NewSkills program – to assist Novocastrians and local businesses gain and develop their talent. Side Hustle Bootcamp will support and empower 15 Newcastle residents to turn their side hustle business ideas into reality. 

Some well known successful Newcastle businesses such as Uprising Bakery, Coast XP, Cocoa Nibs, Savant Apothecary and Eat Your Water started out as side hustles too.

The Program has been designed as be a mixture of online and face-to-face workshops (in Newcastle). It will include six (6) group workshop sessions tailored for participants' side hustle ideas - three face-to-face and three online. Supporting these workshops will be practical webinars, access to a curated national business community of fellow side hustlers, tools to apply to your business idea and ongoing support throughout the program. 

Program facilitators, Sparrowly Group, will provide training to 15 residents through group workshops to empower and guide them through the process of creating a successful start-up business. 

Eligibility

This program is for people who live or work in the Newcastle local government area and who have a ‘pre-startup’ business idea. 

We are looking for ideas that offer fresh thinking or fill a local supply gap. Participants must commit to the time for participating in the workshops, supporting pre-work and undertaking their business actions as part of this program.
