Agriculture Diversification
Agriculture is a significant employer and contributor to the Australian economy particularly in rural and regional areas. Not only does it provide jobs on farms, but also through related industries including processing, marketing, and transportation of agricultural products.
Farmers contribute significantly to the Australian economy, but there is great volatility in seasonal conditions that impact farm profitability.
Diversification in agritourism aims to help farmers maximise economic returns and promote long-term sustainability through culinary adventures, while preserving farmland and leveraging their destinations unique offerings.
It is estimated agritourism will contribute approximately $18.6 billion to the Australian economy by 2030 (CSIRO, Agritourism – Australian food and agribusiness).
